The ILEC fire detection module has been specially developed for gliders with retractable engines. This reliable and self-monitoring electronic device provides pilots with the necessary warning of structural failure due to a smouldering fire or fire in the engine bay. The alarm is both audible, via a built-in piezo siren (approx. 85dB), and visual, via a bright red LED that can be installed in the instrument panel.
The fire is detected via a special fire detection cable, which is laid and secured in the engine bay. The properties of the fire detection cable and its installation are the sole determinants of fire detection. The module is designed for minimal power consumption during operation and requires only 0.16 mA. The device is protected against reverse polarity and overvoltage. Standby mode is indicated by a flashing LED. System errors are also displayed.
